How to Use AI for TikTok Shop Videos: Scripts, Edits and the Rules That Keep You Safe

Casia, Rosada Automation9 min read

Yes, you can use AI to make TikTok Shop videos. TikTok Shop's US rules allow AI for scripts, editing, translation and product demos, as long as the video shows the real product accurately. Turn on the "AI-generated content" setting when a video is fully or significantly made with AI, and never let AI change what the buyer actually gets.

This guide gives you a simple seven-step routine: AI does the busywork, you film the real thing, and you check it before it goes up.

Want the shortcut? Grab the free TikTok Shop AI Video Kit. It's a script prompt that works from your product page and a pre-post checklist built from TikTok Shop's own AI rules.

Flowchart of making a TikTok Shop video with AI. You copy the product page facts. AI writes a hook, demo and close and a shot list. You film the real product. AI helps edit captions, cuts and lighting. You check that everything matches the product page and that AI and ad disclosures are in place, then post with the AI-generated content setting on when the video is fully or significantly AI-made.

Does TikTok Shop allow AI-generated videos?

Yes. TikTok Shop Seller University's US page on AI-generated content, dated 09/02/2026, puts it plainly: "AI-generated content is allowed, but you must be transparent and accurate." It also says content won't be restricted or penalized just for using AI, as long as it follows TikTok's rules (TikTok Shop: AI-Generated Content Restrictions and Requirements).

The same page calls this "the key prerequisite": AI content must be "truthful, accurate, and not misleading or falsified." Third-party AI tools are fine too, under the same rules.

So the question isn't really "AI or no AI." It's "does the video tell the truth about the product?"

One note: these are TikTok Shop's US rules. If you sell or promote outside the US, check your own region's Seller University page.

What can AI do in a TikTok Shop video?

TikTok Shop lists these as permitted uses, as long as the content stays accurate (TikTok Shop: AI-Generated Content):

  • Scripts and titles. Short video scripts, titles and product descriptions, "provided that the information is truthful and accurate."
  • Editing and quality. Lighting, color, noise, smoothing motion and changing backgrounds, "as long as the product information is not altered."
  • Translation, dubbing and subtitles. So viewers who speak other languages can follow along.
  • Visual styles. Cartoon, anime or illustration styles that keep the product information true.
  • Product demos. Scenes, diagrams or animations that match the product's real size, material, functions and normal results.

What will get your video restricted?

TikTok Shop's rules say don't use AI to change a product's size, color, material, quantity, bundle contents, features, compatibility, safety attributes or performance. Don't show results the real item can't deliver, and don't speed up before-and-after visuals or imply instant results without reliable evidence (TikTok Shop: AI-Generated Content). If you're a seller, the same goes for your listing images (TikTok Shop: AIGC for Product Listings Images).

Don't use AI to copy another person's face, likeness or voice. And don't invent a "doctor" or "expert" to vouch for a product. TikTok says it's watching this closely for health products like supplements.

TikTok Shop's Content Policy adds two more points (TikTok Shop: Content Policy):

  • AI content may count as "misleading or low-quality if it replaces real product demonstration with synthetic visuals."
  • Videos where the creator doesn't speak, appear, or "meaningfully present or demonstrate the product" are on its prohibited list.

If you break the rules, TikTok can restrict a video's reach, remove product links, restrict your account, and permanently ban accounts that use AI for fraud.

How do you make a TikTok Shop video with AI, step by step?

  1. Copy the product page facts. Title, size, color, material, what's in the box, and only the claims the seller can back up. This is the only information your AI gets.
  2. Ask AI for a script. Ask for a hook (the first 3 seconds), a demo (2 or 3 real uses you can film) and a close (tap the product link). TikTok's own creative advice uses this same hook, body and close structure (TikTok for Business: Creative Codes). Write a fresh script for each product. TikTok Shop treats "the same generic sales script for a range of different products" as repetitive content (Content Policy).
  3. Ask AI for a shot list. Close-ups, the product in your hand, the product in use, and what's in the box.
  4. Film the real product. Your hands, your voice or your face. This is the part AI shouldn't replace.
  5. Edit with AI help. Captions, cutting pauses, fixing light and background noise. My guide "How to Edit TikTok Videos (With AI)" walks through the editing clicks.
  6. Run the pre-post check.
    • Does what's on screen match the product page?
    • Are the results realistic, and shown at real speed?
    • Is any AI voice, avatar or realistic AI scene disclosed?
    • Did you get the product free? If so, say so in the video.
  7. Post. If the video is fully or significantly made with AI, turn on the AI-generated content setting: tap Next, then More options, then turn on AI-generated content (TikTok Help Center).

Here's the script prompt. Copy it, then paste your product facts at the end.

Write a 20–30 second TikTok Shop video script for the product below. Use only these facts. Structure: hook (first 3 seconds, one line), demo (2–3 real uses I can film), close (tell viewers to tap the product link). Don't add claims that aren't in the facts. No "best", "guaranteed" or instant-result language.
Facts: [paste product page title, size, color, materials, what's included, claims the seller supports]

And the shot-list prompt:

Turn this script into a shot list I can film on my phone in 15 minutes: each shot, how close, what my hands do, and which line it goes under.

When should you turn on the AI label?

TikTok Shop says disclosure matters most when a video has synthetic faces, voices, digital humans or realistic virtual people. It also matters when content is fully or significantly AI-generated, or when AI effects look real enough to pass for real footage (TikTok Shop: AI-Generated Content). You can use the setting, or say it on screen or in the description.

Worried about reach? TikTok's Help Center says turning on the setting "won't affect the distribution of your video as long as it doesn't violate our Community Guidelines" (TikTok Help Center). TikTok may also add a label on its own, and you can't remove that one.

What about small fixes? Per TikTok Shop's own FAQ, "Minor edits or basic enhancements, such as light adjustments, color grading, small cropping, or noise reduction, do not require disclosure" (TikTok Shop: AI-Generated Content). A video that AI has heavily altered still needs the label.

Can TikTok Shop affiliates use AI?

Yes, and the same AI rules apply. There's one more thing to know.

If a brand pays you, or gives you free or discounted products, the FTC says to disclose that relationship. In a video, the disclosure goes in the video itself, not just the description. Simple words work: "ad," "sponsored," or "Thanks to [brand] for the free product." The FTC also says not to rely on a platform's disclosure tool alone, and that you can't talk about your experience with a product you haven't tried (FTC: Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers). So don't let AI write "I've used this for months" if you haven't.

The AI label and the ad disclosure are two different things. You may need both.

The short version

AI can write it, light it and caption it. The product on screen still has to be the one in the box. Grab the free TikTok Shop AI Video Kit and check every video before it goes up.

FAQ

Can I use AI for TikTok Shop videos?

Yes. TikTok Shop's US policy says AI-generated content is allowed, but you must be transparent and accurate. You can use AI for scripts, editing, translation and product demos. The video has to show the real product as it's sold, and fully or significantly AI-made content should carry the AI-generated label.

Does the AI-generated label hurt my views?

TikTok's Help Center says turning on the AI-generated content setting won't affect your video's distribution as long as the video doesn't break the Community Guidelines. Labeling honestly is safer than skipping it, because TikTok may remove unlabeled realistic AI content and can apply its own label automatically.

How do I turn on the AI-generated label?

After you record or upload, tap Next, then More options, and turn on the AI-generated content setting before you post. Viewers will see a label on the video. Use it when the content is fully generated or significantly edited by AI, such as an AI voice or avatar.

Can TikTok Shop affiliates use AI?

Yes, under the same rules. Keep the product accurate, don't impersonate anyone, and label fully or significantly AI-made videos. If the brand gave you free product or pays you, the FTC says to disclose that relationship in the video itself, not only in the caption.

Are AI avatar videos allowed on TikTok Shop?

They can be, with clear disclosure and accurate product claims. But TikTok Shop's Content Policy says AI that replaces real product demonstration can be treated as misleading or low quality, and fake experts are not allowed. Filming the real product and using AI for the rest is the safer route.

What can't I do with AI on TikTok Shop?

Don't use AI to change a product's size, color, material, quantity, features or performance, or to speed up before-and-after results. Don't clone someone's voice or likeness, or create fake doctors or experts. TikTok can restrict videos, remove product links, and ban accounts for serious violations.
