How to Use AI to Write TikTok Scripts and Hooks (That Still Sound Like You)

To write TikTok scripts with AI, start with your own words: a voice memo or notes on the idea, the way you'd say it. Then ask AI to shape it into a hook, body and close, and give you a few hook options. Pick one, read the script out loud, and rewrite anything you wouldn't actually say. AI is great at structure and options. Your voice is what makes people stay.
You already know what you want to say. This is how to get it out of your head and into a 30-second script without sounding like everyone else.

Why do AI TikTok scripts sound so generic?
Most of us start the same way: "Write me a viral TikTok about meal prep." With nothing else to go on, AI fills the gaps with the most average phrasing it can find. That's why so many scripts open with the same lines and end with the same "follow for more."
The fix is simple. Give AI raw material only you have: your example, your opinion, the way you actually explain it. When it starts from your words, it has less room to make things up.
The second fix is to tell it what not to do. No hype words. No invented stories, results or numbers. Nothing you didn't say. It saves you from cutting them later.
What structure should a TikTok script follow?
TikTok for Business recommends "a three-part structure consisting of a hook, body, and close." For hooks, it suggests things like "suspense, surprise, and emotion" (TikTok for Business: Creative Codes). That advice is written for ads, but the shape works for everyday posts too:
- Hook: the first line. It gives people a reason to stay.
- Body: the one thing you came to say. One idea per video.
- Close: one next step, like "save this for later" or "try it tonight."
That's all AI needs to know about structure. The rest comes from you.
How do you use AI to write a TikTok script, step by step?
- Say it first. Record a 60-second voice memo explaining the idea like you're talking to a friend. Don't plan it. Then turn it into text. If your phone or AI app can transcribe audio, use that. If not, just type out what you said.
- Paste it in and ask for structure. Ask AI to turn your transcript into a hook, a body and a close, and to keep your phrases wherever it can. Tell it not to add any facts, stories or results you didn't say. (Prompt 1 below.)
- Ask for hook options. Get five or six short hooks in different styles, then pick one. Before you keep it, check one thing: does the video actually deliver what this hook promises? (Prompt 2.)
- Make it sound like you. Paste two or three sentences you've really said on camera and ask AI to match your sentence length, words and energy. (Prompt 3.)
- Read it out loud. This is the step people skip, and it's the one that matters most. Cut anything you stumble on or wouldn't say to a friend. If you're explaining two ideas, save one for another video.
- Add on-screen text, then film. Ask AI for three to five short on-screen text lines that follow the script, and a one-sentence caption (Prompt 4). Then film and edit. If you want help with the editing part, here's how to edit TikTok videos with AI.
Copy-paste prompts
Prompt 1: Voice memo to script
Here's a transcript of me explaining an idea. Turn it into a 30-second TikTok script with a hook (first line), a body, and a one-line close. Keep my phrases wherever possible. Don't add facts, stories or results I didn't say.
Transcript: [paste]
Prompt 2: Hook options
Give me 6 hook options under 12 words for this script: 2 problem call-outs, 2 audience call-outs, 2 curiosity hooks. Each must be something the video actually delivers. No hype words.
Prompt 3: Sound like me
Here are three sentences I really said on camera: [paste]. Rewrite the script to match my sentence length, words and energy.
Prompt 4: On-screen text and caption
Write 4 short on-screen text lines that follow the script, and a one-sentence caption with no hashtag stuffing.
How do you write better hooks with AI?
A hook is a promise. The video has to keep it. Ask AI for options across a few styles, then pick the one that sounds like you. Here are the styles I use, with examples written for a home cook who posts quick dinners:
- Problem call-out: "If dinner keeps turning into takeout at 7 PM, try this."
- Audience call-out: "For anyone who gets home too tired to cook."
- Curiosity: "The one thing I prep on Sunday that saves my weeknights."
- Show it first: open on the finished plate, then explain how you got there. Only use this when the result on screen is real.
One rule covers all of them: if the hook promises something the video doesn't deliver, cut it. And skip lines like "this will change your life." People can feel those coming.
Is it okay to use AI for TikTok scripts, and when do you need a label?
Yes, it's okay. Drafting a script with AI is like using any other writing helper. What matters is that what you say is true.
TikTok's label rules are about the video itself, not who helped with the words. Its Help Center says TikTok encourages creators to label content that's "completely generated or significantly edited by AI," and that it requires a label for AI-generated content that "contains realistic images, audio, and video." One of its examples of a significant edit is a person "saying something they didn't say, for example, AI-generated speech" (TikTok Help Center: About AI-generated content).
So here's the plain version. A script you wrote with AI help and filmed yourself is just a script. If an AI voice or an AI avatar reads it for you, that's the part to label.
To turn the label on when you post a video, TikTok's steps are (TikTok Help Center):
- Tap the Add post + button at the bottom.
- Record, then tap the Continue button. You can also upload a video from your device.
- Tap Next.
- Tap More options, then turn on the AI-generated content setting.
TikTok also says that labeling unaltered content as AI-generated breaks its Terms of Service, so only use it when it's true. If you sell on TikTok Shop, there are extra rules, covered in how to use AI for TikTok Shop videos.
Which AI should you use for TikTok scripts?
Any capable AI chat assistant can do this. The bigger difference is what you give it. A transcript of you explaining the idea, plus a few sentences you've really said on camera, will get you a script that sounds like you, whichever tool you open. Use the one you already have.
The short version
Next time you're stuck, don't open a blank prompt. Record yourself first, then let AI do the shaping.

FAQ
How do I use AI to write TikTok scripts?
Start by recording or writing your idea in your own words. Paste that into an AI assistant and ask for a short script with a hook, a body and a close that keeps your phrasing. Then ask for a few hook options, pick one, read the script out loud, and rewrite anything you wouldn't actually say.
Is it okay to use AI for script writing?
Yes. Drafting a script with AI is like using any writing helper, as long as what you say is true and the video delivers what the hook promises. TikTok's AI-label rules are about realistic AI-generated images, audio and video, like an AI voice or face, not about who drafted your script.
Do I need to label my TikTok if AI wrote the script?
A script you wrote with AI help and filmed yourself isn't what TikTok's label is about. TikTok encourages labeling content that's completely generated or significantly edited by AI, and requires it for realistic AI images, audio and video. If an AI voice or avatar reads your script, turn on the AI-generated content setting.
How do I write a good TikTok hook with AI?
Give AI the actual point of your video and ask for several short hook options in different styles: a problem, a specific audience call-out, and a curiosity line. Pick the one that sounds most like you and that the video truly pays off. Cut any hook that promises more than you deliver.
What structure should a TikTok script have?
TikTok for Business recommends a three-part structure: a hook, a body, and a close. The hook gives people a reason to stay, the body delivers the one idea, and the close gives one clear next step, like saving the video or trying the tip. Keep each video to a single idea.
What's the best AI for writing TikTok scripts?
Most capable AI chat assistants can draft TikTok scripts well. The bigger difference is what you give them. A transcript of you explaining the idea, plus a few sentences you've really said on camera, will get you a script that sounds like you, whichever tool you use.
